HK Court Convicts Jimmy Lai of Conspiracy to Publish Seditious Publications and Conspiracy to Collude with Foreign Forces

Next Digital founder Jimmy Lai was found guilty by the High Court of violating the Law of the People's Republic of China on Safeguarding National Security in the HKSAR (the National Security Law). The court ruled that Lai and senior executives of Apple Daily were guilty of "conspiracy to publish seditious publications" and "conspiracy to collude with foreign forces". Lai and the "Fight for Freedom, Stand with Hong Kong" lobbying group were also found guilty of "conspiracy to collude with foreign forces". Lai had been charged with three offenses, two of which involved the the National Security Law, specifically "conspiracy to collude with a foreign country or with external elements to endanger national security", and another charge under the Crimes Ordinance for "conspiracy to publish seditious publications".
